| 1st Annual Business
Women's Breakfast 2002 |
| |
| Our first Business Women's Breakfast was successfully held at the Colonnade Hotel in Boston on June 28, 2002. Over 90 guests attended the breakfast, which raised over $5,000 to benefit our ASAP (Asian Shelter and Advocacy Project) program. Frances Rivera of 7News opened the event with a warm welcome and personal commentary on what it is like to grow up in an Asian home and the difficulty of speaking out in order to get help. |

Denise Brown, sister of murder victim Nicole Brown, was the keynote speaker for this morning and spoke on how she felt when realizing her sister was a victim of domestic violence and died because of it. Denise also let us in on her personal, as well as professional, goals in life to bring about awareness of this epidemic that is spreading around the world. Denise has filled her time with educational seminars and visits to a variety of institutions across the country and we were fortunate to have her with us for this special event. |

| The Adopt-A-Room Project was introduced at the Business Women's Breakfast. As the agency's funding is dedicated to providing services for the victims and their children, it has been difficult to replace used and broken furniture, appliances and linens. Currently, due to a significant decrease in individual donations and in-kind gifts following the aftermath of September 11th, combined with normal wear and tear, the agency is in desperate need of refurnishing our shelter and safe home. |
