The Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence is currently seeking candidates to join our diverse staff in the following positions:

Boston Office


Director of Development

Reports to: Executive Director

Roles and Responsibilities: Overall responsibility for development and implementation of all fundraising activities to generate agency revenue including development of annual and long-term fundraising plans, major donor program, corporate and foundation relations, annual appeals, and
special events including the annual Silk Road Gala. The Director of Development provides staff support to the Development Committee of the Board of Directors, is a member of the Senior Management Team, and reports to the Executive Director.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Supervise and manage the development team – two grant writers and a Development and Communications Associate.
  • Develop fundraising strategy with the Development Committee.
  • Develop budget to ensure adequate funding to meet program needs.
  • Identify opportunities for new funding initiatives including local and national prospects.
  • Develop comprehensive and proactive individual and major donor programs including prospect identification, solicitation strategies, cultivation, stewardship, and upgrading campaigns.
  • Develop and lead strategy to position Executive Director and agency to leverage existing relationships with current donors and funders.
  • Identify opportunities for new cultivation and fundraising events; evaluate and re-energize existing events.
  • Oversee the production of Annual Report and coordinate the Annual Meeting with the Executive Assistant.
  • Oversee database maintenance (SAGE or similar fundraising management software) and gift acknowledgement process for donors.
  • Develop communications and marketing strategies to support and leverage all fundraising activities.
  • Manage fundraising events with support from staff and external contractor.
  • Identify media placements and other marketing opportunities.
  • Work in conjunction with the Outreach Department to develop the annual newsletter and ensure that acknowledgment of donors is in place.
  • Identify and cultivate other potential funding sources and public relations opportunities.
  • Participate in outreach activities when needed.
  • Attend external fundraising events.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years experience in nonprofit development.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher education preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and meeting fundraising goals.
  • Excellent communication skills including oral, written, and interpersonal.
  • Ability to lead and motivate volunteers and staff.
  • Knowledge of funding community in Greater Boston area and understanding of national philanthropic resources.
  • Familiarity with social and human service programs and immigrant and refugee communities preferred.
  • Experience in public relations.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural setting.
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of database management.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Ability to work with flexibility.
  • Knowledge of Asian cultures helpful, but not required.

Overnight / Weekend Shelter Staff

The Overnight/Weekend Staff is responsible for maintaining the daily operations of the shelter during nights, weekend and holidays.The position reports to the AssistantDirector of Advocacy Services.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Evening

  • Check residents' chores.
  • Set alarm for evening hours.

Weekend/Holiday-Daytime

  • Provide weekly room inspections for residents.
  • Ensure residents follow their daily schedule of tasks.
  • Plan and implement weekend activities such as field trips, life skills or ESOL workshops.

Other (Both Weekend/Holiday - Daytime)

  • Provide work coverage for other overnight/weekend staff, as needed.
  • Light clerical work such as photocopy, data entry, fax and phone calls.
  • Provide hotline coverage.
  • Provide emergency care for residents.
  • Communicate clearly with other staff.
  • Input hotline forms into appropriate database.
  • Enforce house rules.

Qualifications:

  • H.S. diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to comprehend the importance of and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Experience working in the field of domestic violence
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and initiative
  • Flexible evening and weekend schedules
  • Fluency in any Asian language preferred
  • Access to a vehicle preferred.

Vietnamese Advocate

The Vietnamese Advocate is responsible for providing legal advocacy for Vietnamese victims experiencing domestic violence at the Dorchester District Court. This contract position is grant funded and may be extended dependent on renewal of funding. Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to the following: provide a broad range of advocacy and stabilization services, based on each victim’s or family’s needs. The position reports to the Director of Advocacy Services.

Salary: $15,000.00 with pro-rated employee benefit

Duties Include but not limited to:

  • Help battered Asian victims define, prioritize, and address their needs regarding legal, medical, childcare, and welfare issues.
  • Advocate and interpret for victims with various instructions to meet their need; for example, advocate at courts, the welfare and housing offices, other shelters, etc.
  • Screen potential clients for intake.
  • Meet regularly with clients to give support and informal counseling.
  • Work with other staff to provide support, empowerment and skills training for battered victims.
  • Report regularly at staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or human service field preferred.
  • Experience in the field of domestic violence preferred
  • Experience with human services agencies desirable
  • Self-starter, self-motivated with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be fluent speaking and writing in Vietnamese and English
  • The ideal candidate should have an appreciation for diversity and for women's issues specific to immigrant and refugee communities
