Grace Lin

Peaceful Homes Let Children Soar

Grace Lin is the author and illustrator of more than a dozen children's books, including The Ugly Vegetables and Dim Sum for Everyone! Also an author of middle grade fiction, Grace's 2010 Newbery Honor book Where The Mountain Meets The Moon was chosen for Al Roker's Today Show Kid's Book Club and was a NY Times Bestseller. While most of Grace's books are about the Asian-American experience, she believes, "Books erase bias, they make the uncommon everyday, and the mundane exotic. A book makes all cultures universal." ATASK, in the process of expanding its Children and Families Program, in the area of outreach and prevention, and with the financial support of the Boston Bruins Foundation, partnered with Grace Lin on a special project.  The artwork, above, was created with a message supporting ATASK’s mission of preventing domestic violence in Asian families and communities, and our wish for a world without violence.  It is Asian-inspired, but universal, colorful and optimistic.  The illustration is available for purchase from ATASK, with the proceeds benefiting the children and families in need.
