EmPOWER Breakfast 2011

EmPOWER Breakfast is an annual benefit in collaboration with women from the business community to raise much needed funds for women and children impacted by domestic violence. This year’s event was 8-10AM on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Rialto, Cambridge.

Although not typically an option for breakfast, Chef/Owner Jody Adams graciously opened the doors of Rialto, Cambridge, to serve over fifty people for the first annual EmPOWER Breakfast to benefit the Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence (ATASK). Jody served as a co-host of the event, along with Vivian Hsu, Principal of Hsu & Associates, LLC, and Renee Inomata, Partner at Burns and Levinson, LCC, and Janet Wu of WHDH/7News. Janet also emceed the event and moderated a panel discussion that included Jody Adams, Joanne Chang of Flour Bakery + Cafe, and Atsuko Toko Fish, Chair Emeritus of the ATASK Board, and recent Founder of the Japanese Disaster Relief Fund Boston. The panelists shared wonderful stories of how they have been able to balance being successful women with how they give back and empower others around them. Through the tickets purchased by attendees, and the generous donations of the event sponsors, National Grid and Renee Inomata, the breakfast raised valuable funds for the programs and services of ATASK, helping Asian women and children impacted by domestic violence. Linda Chin, ATASK President, presented gifts from Didriks to all the chairs and panel participants, as a token of appreciation.
