Eve Ensler
3rd Annual Business Women's Breakfast (2004)
 
On December 12, 2003, Eve Ensler, internationally lauded author of "The Vagina Monologues" and "Necessary Targets" and founder of V-Day -a global movement that helps anti-violence organizations throughout the world - performed for over 200 in attendance at the Evos Art Institute in Lowell, Massachusetts. This event was a benefit for the Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence (ATASK), and Rape Crisis Services of Greater Lowell (RCSGL), both dedicated to ending domestic and sexual violence in the Greater Lowell community.
   
On the evening of the event, Ms. Ensler's performance included new works that focus on the plight of international women suffering from rape and torture during wartime, called "Vagina Warriors". She is best known for her work as the founder of V-Day that originated out of her work "The Vagina Monologues," which is a series of profiles of women discussing their relationships and experiences with their own bodies.
   
Ms. Ensler is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship Award in Playwriting, the Berrilla-Kerr Award for Playwriting, the Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding Solo Performance, and the Jury Award for Theater at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival, as well as the 2002 Amnesty International Media Spotlight Award for Leadership and The Matrix Award (2002).
