Transitional Housing Program

ATASK’s Transitional Housing Program (THP) is the first and only transitional housing program in New England for Asian survivors of domestic violence.  Our THP supports survivors in building new lives by providing a safe place to live, developing skills to live independently, and working towards their personal goals.  THP participants work with ATASK advocates and case managers who provide culturally and linguistically appropriate services.  The THP is available to survivors of domestic violence that are experiencing homelessness, with priority given to those in the ATASK emergency shelter.

Our THP offer the following services:

  • Short-term financial assistance for housing-related costs such as rent, security deposits, and utilities for up to 2 years
  • Transitional housing search advocacy and housing search skills education
  • Support in exploring and working toward personal goals re: housing, vocation, finances, etc.
  • Employment assistance and referrals
  • Safety planning
  • Assistance in finding/affording transportation, childcare, and household furnishings
  • Emotional support and advocacy, including around cultural/linguistic integration
  • Referrals to recreational and community activities
  • Follow-up services for at least 3 months after exiting the THP

Our THP services are voluntary, allowing for flexibility, initiative, and decision-making on the part of our survivor clients. We believe that they are the experts in their own lives and support them via the services they are specifically interested in.
