Cambodian Language Access Program Client Navigator (Part-Time Position)

Position Summary: ATASK is in search of a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as Language Access Client Navigator. The position is within our Community Based Services Program, based out of our Lowell site serving clients primarily in Greater Lowell areas; though services extend throughout Massachusetts and occasionally bordering states to provide needed services to victims, survivors, and their children. The ATASK LAP Client Navigator is a part-time position. Navigators work a minimum of 10 hours per month

ATASK’s mission is to prevent domestic violence in Asian families and communities and to provide hope to survivors. The ideal candidate will be a passionate advocate for victims, survivors and their children and will work as a team member of ATASK to provide comprehensive services to the Asian and general community.

Hours: Part-time Hours vary weekly with a minimum commitment of 10 hours per month. Hours are typically within 9am-5pm on weekdays. Some after-hours and weekend work may be required.

Reports To: Asian Shelter and Advocacy Program (ASAP) Operations Manager and ASAP Clinical Manager

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Case Management/Advocacy:

  • Provide culturally competent, trauma informed services to survivors of domestic violence
  • Provide direct services to clients: including safety planning, crisis intervention, risk assessment, case management, and advocacy
  • Conduct intake, assessment, and goal planning with clients alongside the primary Advocate/ Case Manager
  • Accurately and effectively provide translation and interpretation on clients’ and children’s behalf as needed
  • Assist with and/or accompany clients (and their children) to appointments, meetings and referrals.
  • Provide service and supportive counseling in a client’s native language where needed.
  • Collaborate with internal and external multidisciplinary teams on domestic violence cases
  • Make referrals, network, and directly advocate with other agencies to assist clients in achieving safety and stabilization goals and seek-out funds needed to stabilize and assist client.
  • Answer hotline calls: ascertain caller’s needs; and provide supportive listening, crisis intervention, safety planning, information about domestic violence, resources and inter-agency and external referrals

Administrative:

  • Maintain current and accurate records of services and data
  • Attend staff meetings, supervision, case meetings, and contribute to the ongoing development of ATASK culturally responsive service delivery system
  • Participate in the Silk Road Gala and other cultural and fundraising events or research projects as needed
  • Represent agency at meetings with community collaborators and other community events as needed
  • Participate in ongoing professional development trainings
  • Engage in community outreach and engagement, research collaborations and policy advocacy
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Required native proficiency (writing, reading and speaking) in Khmer language (Thai or Lao a plus), and professional fluency in English
  • Deep cultural understanding of the targeted LEP immigrant community.
  • Experience with domestic violence, sexual assault, trauma, and/or crisis work preferred
  • Knowledge of health care, legal, education, work force development, mental health, and child systems preferred
  • Must have appropriate boundaries and understanding of and commitment to maintaining strict client confidentiality.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with strong documentation and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Be able to work independently and part of a team
  • Committed to completing ATASK DV training
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle or reliable transportation, and willingness to travel preferred
  • Committed to ATASK’s mission and goals, and to ending a culture of domestic violence

Salary: $41,000 – $44,000 / year
Salary is commensurate with education and experience. ATASK is not able to provide visa sponsorship at this time and therefore applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
