Job Overview: 

ATASK is seeking a highly organized, resourceful, and mission-driven individual to fill the position of Legal Program Coordinator (Paralegal). This role is ideal for candidates interested in applying and deepening legal and program skills while supporting program operations in a mission-driven, team-based legal setting. ATASK values long-term staff development and is committed to creating a supportive environment where team members can build lasting careers in public interest legal work. 

This position will enhance ATASK’s ability to provide comprehensive legal services in family and immigration law, with a focus on serving low-income and limited English proficient (LEP) immigrant survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. This role is ideal for someone seeking to build deep, specialized experience over time while contributing to meaningful, community-centered legal services. 

The Legal Program Coordinator (Paralegal) will play a dual role by providing direct paralegal and legal support to attorneys and clients, while also supporting program coordination, case management systems, and grant-related work. Responsibilities include conducting client intakes, preparing and reviewing legal documents, maintaining case files, and supporting attorneys in case preparation, in addition to database management, reporting, outreach, and collaboration with internal and external partners. 

This role offers a strong opportunity for candidates pursuing or considering a career in law, including those interested in public interest, immigration, and family law. 

The position is hybrid, offering flexibility to work remotely, with in-person work expected at least twice a week, including office work, community events, outreach, and tabling. 

 

Location and Commitments:  

  • Full-Time, exempt, 40 hours/week  
  • Hybrid (in person at least twice a week)  
  • Monday-Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm  
  • Occasional after-hours and weekend work as needed for coverage and to respond to emergencies, outreach and trainings 
  • Flexible schedule  

 Reports to: Managing Attorney  

 Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct client intakes using trauma-informed and culturally competent practices 
  • Provide paralegal support, including legal document preparation and case support under attorney supervision 
  • Maintain and oversee case management systems, ensuring accurate tracking of progress and outcomes 
  • Support grant reporting, data tracking, and program operations with a high level of accuracy and consistency  
  • Collaborate with the Managing Attorney on program implementation, coordination and continuous improvement  

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

This role involves a balance of direct legal support, program coordination, and systems management within a collaborative legal team. 

Direct Legal Assistance and Case Management (40%) 

  • Conduct client intakes and serve as a consistent point of contact for clients through the legal process 
  • Draft and assist with petitions, motions, affidavits, declarations, and immigration applications 
  • Assist attorneys with case preparation, document review, and evidence organization 
  • Organize and maintain physical and electronic case files in compliance with legal, ethical and organizational standards 
  • Track case progress and update case management databases regularly 
  • Communicate with clients, courts, and external partners as appropriate under attorney supervision 
  • Attend case review meetings and support legal strategy development 
  • Foster a supportive and trauma-informed environment for all clients 

Grant Reporting and Management (30%) 

  • Manage grant calendars and track reporting deadlines to ensure timely and accurate submissions 
  • Collect, analyze, and report program data and outcomes, ensuring accuracy and consistency across reporting 
  • Prepare and contribute to grant reports and applications 
  • Support ongoing improvements to legal database systems and reporting tools 

 

Community Outreach and Collaboration (20%) 

  • Represent the Legal Program at community events, coalitions, and outreach activities 
  • Build and maintain relationships with legal service providers, law schools, and community partners 
  • Support coordination of volunteer, intern, and pro bono attorney engagement 
  • Collaborate on outreach strategies to increase community awareness and access to services 

 

Other Program Operations (10%) 

  • Coordinate legal trainings, workshops, and outreach events 
  • Support onboarding of staff, interns, and volunteers 
  • Assist with legal compliance, best practices, and program systems 
  • Support implementation and use of legal technology and case management tools 
  • Perform additional duties as needed 

 

Required Qualifications, Experience, and Skills: 

  • Commitment to ATASK’s mission and social justice work 
  • Bachelor’s degree required 
  • 1–3 years of experience in legal services, paralegal work, or program coordination or related field strongly preferred 
  • Demonstrated interest in immigration law, family law, or public interest law  
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manager competing priorities with consistency 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-based environment 
  • Experience or familiarity with legal document preparation and case management systems preferred 
  • Sensitivity and ability to working with clients in crisis using trauma-informed approaches 
  • High ethical standards, sound judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel 

 

Additional Preferred Skills: 

  • Fluency or conversational ability in an Asian language  
  • Experience working with immigrant or LEP communities 
  • Experience in legal aid, nonprofit, or public interest settings 
  • Familiarity with immigration or family law procedures 
  • Experience working with survivors of domestic violence, trafficking, or trauma 
  • Experience with case management software or legal technology 
  • Strong data tracking, reporting skills or program coordination skills
     

Work Environment: 

This is a hybrid position that allows for flexibility to work remotely, with a minimum of two days per week in the office, and occasional travel for court or program needs. Some flexibility in scheduling is available based on case demands and office requirements.  

 

Salary: $60,000 – $80,000
